Huskies Open 2006-07 Season At Opus NW Husky Invitational

Seattle - The No. 11 Washington men's golf team, led by seniors Erik Olson and Alex Prugh, opens the 2006-07 season at home with the Opus NW Husky Invitational, held at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash. on Sept. 25-26. The nine-team field includes 2006 Pac-10 Champion UCLA and league rivals Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State. UC Davis, Loyola Marymount and San Diego State will also be in attendance.
The event consists of 54 holes (36 on Monday, 18 on Tuesday) of medal play with team and individual titles at stake. Washington National Golf Club will play at par-72 and approximately 7,050 yards for the event. Monday's play includes 36 holes of competition, while a single-round is slated for Tuesday. The field will play a practice round on Sunday, Sept. 24 and begins tournament play at 7:30 a.m. on both days from the first and 10th tees.
Prugh led the Huskies in 2005-06 with a 72.15 stroke average, logging four top-10 finishes on the year. Olson, the 2005 Pac-10 Champion, was the team's top finisher in three events, placing third at the 2006 Pac-10 Championship. Prugh was a first-team All-Pac-10 selection, while Olson earned honorable mention accolades.
