ASU's other non-conference home contests include the Verizon/ASU Classic (Dec. 1-2), which will feature Boston, Northern Arizona and Eastern Michigan). The Sun Devils will kick off the home portion of their Pac-10 schedule against Arizona on Friday, December 22.
In addition to their 16 regular season home dates at Wells Fargo Arena, the Sun Devils will also be hosting the 'Hoops for Health Classic' against Texas Tech (Mon., Dec. 18, time TBA) at Chase Field in Phoenix. Under the direction of 11th-year head coach Charli Turner Thorne, the Sun Devils return four starters - senior F Emily Westerberg, senior F Aubree Johnson, senior G Jill Noe and junior G Reagan Pariseau - from last year's team, which tied the single-season school record for wins (25), set the school record for most Pac-10 wins (14), tied the highest ranking in school history (No. 9) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2005 season also included a perfect 15-0 record at home and a school record 10-game winning streak. In addition to their 10 returning letterwinners, the Sun Devils will also be featuring four freshmen, including former Phoenix St. Mary's standouts G Dymond Simon and F Kayli Murphy.
Earlier this month, the Sun Devils were ranked No. 11 in the 2006-07 Athlon Sports College Basketball Preview.
