Cal Completes Day One of All-American Championships

TULSA, OK - - Junior Pierre Mouillon got the only win on Monday for the California men's tennis team at day one of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships. Mouillon was one of four Golden Bears who competed at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Mouillon defeated Maor Zirkin of Drake. The first set went down to the wire with Mouillon pulling out the 7-5 victory. He pulled away earlier in the second set to win, 6-3, and take the match for the Bears. The victory was Mouillon's third singles win in the first two fall tournaments.
Senior Tyler Browne won the first set against his opponent, Mississippi's Jakob Klaeson, with a 6-3 win. Klaeson then turned the tables with a second set victory by the same score. The Rebel was awarded the match after Browne retired during the third set with Klaeson leading 2-1.
Also winning the first set of his match was freshman KJ Stewart. The first set went to a tiebreaker with Stewart winning, 7-6 (3). He would lose the next two sets to his opponent, Sergi Vila of Drake, both by the score of 6-4.
The fourth Cal player who participated was senior Daniel Sebescen, who fell in two sets to Luis Diaz Barriga of Texas, 6-4, 6-4.
In second round action tomorrow morning, Mouillon squares off against Andreas Weber of Hawai'i. Weber defeated Amrit Narasimhan of Memphis, 6-4, 6-3. Doubles play also begins tomorrow, with Browne and Stewart teaming up, while Mouillon and Sebescen form the other Cal team.
