San Diego State's Midfielder Raul Bautista Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- SAN DIEGO STATE senior midfielder Raul Bautista has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 26-Oct. 2, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Bautista, from Salida, Calif., scored one goal and added an assist as the Aztecs went 2-0 over the weekend, which included shutting out No. 4 Washington, 1-0, Sunday.
In the match, Bautista scored the game-winning goal for SDSU, which was playing a man down for the final 74:58 following a red card, in the 20th minute off a header into the left side of the net in its upset over the Huskies.
Bautista, playing as the team's central defending midfielder, helped limit the Huskies, who came into the match leading the conference in points (69), goals (24), assists (21) and shots per game (17.5), to just 11 shots (six on goal) in the match. His two shots on goal led the team in the win.
On Friday, the tri-captain assisted on the Aztecs' first goal in the 2-1 victory over Oregon State and finished the game with two shots.
Next up, San Diego State takes on UCLA on Sun., Oct. 8.
This is Bautista's first weekly honor and the third all-time award for the Aztecs.
