Men's Track & Field Announces 2007 Competition Schedule
Oct. 4, 2006
Art Venegas and the UCLA men's track and field team has announced the 2007 indoor and outdoor competition schedule. The Bruins will host two home meets and venture to Austin, TX for the Texas Relays.
The Bruins will start the indoor season off in Albuquerque, NM at the New Mexico Lobo Invitational on January 20th. This season, there is no MPSF Indoor Championships, so instead, UCLA will travel to Flagstaff, AZ for the Northern Arizona Elite meet on February 17th. Indoor season will wrap up March 9-10 in Fayetteville, AR as the Razorbacks host the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Outdoor season will kick off at home as the Bruins will host the UCLA Invitational on Saturday, March 3rd. For the first time in several years, UCLA will travel to Austin, TX for the Texas Relays, one of the top meets year in and year out for the nation's elite track and field athletes.
The Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational is being held a week later then in previous years, thus affording the Bruins a chance to compete in Texas. This year, the meet will be held April 12-14.
The annual dual meet battle with USC will take place in Trojan land on April 28th. The conference championships will get under way May 4-5 in Palo Alto, CA with the heptathlon/decathlon competition, followed by the conference meet a week later, May 11-12, also in Palo Alto.
UCLA will head to Eugene, OR May 26-27 for the West Regional Championships, and follow that meet up two weeks later in Sacramento, CA with the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 6th-9th. The USATF Junior/Senior National Championships wrap up the season in Indianapolis, IN June 20th-24th.
