Nguyen Through Qualifying; Main Draw Begins Thursday

STANFORD, Calif.- Sophomore Jessica Nguyen won her third straight singles qualifying match on Wednesday afternoon, advancing to the main draw of Thursday's ITA All-American Championships at Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Nguyen, who recorded two straight-set wins on Tuesday, defeated No. 4 seed Caitlin Burke of Wisconsin 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 and earned a wild card entry in the main draw as a result.
In other singles action, junior Whitney Deason went 1-1 in the consolation bracket. Deason, seeded seventh overall in qualifying, edged Sarah Anundsen of North Carolina 6-4, 6-4 before falling to Arizona State's Roxanne Clark 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.
One day after knocking off the No. 1 seeded doubles team in the first round of qualifying, Stanford's tandem of junior Celia Durkin and senior Theresa Logar was bounced in the second round. Durkin and Logar dropped an 8-4 decision to Miami's Audrey Banada and Romy Farrah.
