Babos Advances To Final Four in All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES - It was another strong performance for current NCAA singles champion Susie Babos at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships as she eliminated the No. 2 seed in the tournament, Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech, 6-4, 6-4, at the Riviera Tennis Club on Friday. Later in the day, Babos defeated Wisconsin's Caitlin Burke, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the semifinals of the event.
Babos suffered defeat in the doubles bracket, as she and senior Zsuzsanna Fodor lost in the second round. They fell to the tandem of Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zorcic of William & Mary, 8-4. The day before, Babos and Fodor won their opening round match against Miami's Audra Cohen and Laura Vallverdu, 8-2.
Babos' opponent in the semifinals tomorrow is Shadisha Robinson of South Florida. The finals will take place on Sunday. Cohen is the No. 1 seed in the singles tournament and plays in the other semifinal match.
After receiving a first-round bye, Fodor was knocked off in the second round of the consolation tournament by LSU's Megan Falcon, 6-3, 6-1.
