Jensen Leads Trojans To A Third-Place Finish At Triton Cross Country Classic

Senior Ashley Jensen led the USC women's cross country team to a third-place finish today in the Division I portion of the UC San Diego Triton Cross Country Classic held in San Diego, Calif. It was the second 6K course that USC had run this season.
Jensen, a transfer from Providence competing in her second meet for USC, placed 10th with a time of 24:06.9 to lead the Trojan runners. She became the fourth different runner to lead USC this season, as freshman Bridget Helgerson was the Trojan's top finisher on Sept. 2 at CS Fullerton, freshman Daniela Gergley led the way at the Aztec Invitational on Sept. 16 and sophomore Christine Greer paced the Trojans at the Pepperdine Invitational on Sept. 23.
Freshman Katherine Ellis had her second consecutive strong effort to finish 12th with a time of 24:20.4. Right behind her was Greer, who placed 13th with a time of 24:26.1.
The final two scoring runners for the Trojans were freshmen Chanel Fischetti and Helgerson. Fischetti finished 18th with a time of 25:00.5 and Helgerson 19th with a time of 25:02.4.
Gergley had a time of 25:07.9 to place 22nd and freshman Natalie Jarvey came in at 25:22.7 to placed 25th. The Trojans' final runner, which did not figure in the team scoring was freshman Jennifer Wells, who finished with a time of 25:42.1.
UCLA won the Division I competition with a perfect score of 15, followed by UC Irvine with 55, USC with 72, Pepperdine with 116 and San Diego State with 131.
In the overall competition (Div. I, II, III and IV results combined), UCLA won the 16-team invitational with 30 points, followed by CS Los Angeles with 60 points, UC San Diego with 63 points, UC Irvine with 124 points and USC with 160 points.
