Rasmussen Advances To SemiFinals At Broncos Classic

Santa Clara, Calif. - Stanford's Chris Rasmussen continued to advance winning two singles matches today at the 2006 Broncos Classic in a long day at the Degheri Tennis Center. In the 'B' Flight of the singles division, Rasmussen recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Gonzaga's Bryce Cooper in the Round of 16. He capped off the day with a come-from-behind win over UCSC's Bryan Pybass, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Rasmussen advanced to tomorrow's semifinals against SCU's Tommy Hicks.

Rasmussen and double's partner Dave Ryan did not fair so well in the double's competition as they fell just short to Boise State's Piotr Dilaje and Eric Roberson (9-7).

In the Flight 'A' singles, Cardinal Kevin Kaiser began the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Sacramento State's Gabriel Loredo. Kaiser fell to USF's Thong Tu in the quarterfinals, 3-6, 6-7 (5).

In the Flight 'C' singles, Dave Ryan advanced over Sonoma State's Connor Olson after Olson withdrew due to injury. He will play Oregon's Stephen Wiechert tomorrow in the quarterfinals.

In other doubles action, the Stanford duo of Eric McKean and Paul Morrissey defeated Washington's Derek Drabble and Andy Kuharsky, 8-6. They advance to face Cal's Geoff Chizever and John Petit tomorrow morning.
