Cal Doubles Teams Advance to Semifinals at Bronco Classic

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The California men's tennis team advanced two doubles teams through the quarterfinals of the Bronco Classic on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center. Golden Bears sophomore Geoff Chizever and senior John Pettit defeated Sacramento State's Anton Stryhas and Timothy Lantin in Flight A Doubles, while Cal sophomore Nicolai Horgen and sophomore Carsten Thorstensen beat San Francisco's Falko Huettenberger and Thong Tu, 8-4, in Flight B Doubles.

In the quarterfinal round of Flight A Singles, Washington's Andy Kuharsky beat Cal freshman K.J. Stewart, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. In the third round of the consolation bracket in Flight B Singles, UC San Diego's Kazumi Negishi stopped Thorstensen, 6-1, 6-4.

The Bronco Classic ends on Sunday.
