Oct. 8, 2006
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Andy Kuharszky (Budapest, Hungary) won twice on Sunday in the Flight A Singles bracket at the Bronco Classic to earn the first tournament championship of his collegiate career. Kuharszky didn't drop a set during his final day of competition to cruise to the title.
Kuharsky downed UC-Santa Barbara's Philip Therp 7-5, 6-2 in his semi-final match before dispatching Nevada's Guillaume Tonelli 6-1, 6-2 to earn the championship trophy. Success is nothing new for Kuharsky at the Santa Clara, Calif., tournament, as he won the Flight A Consolation Singles bracket at the 2004 Bronco Classic.
Michael Ricks (Orinda, Calif.), who advanced to the semi-finals of the consolation bracket of the Flight A Singles, was scheduled to play on Sunday, but the match did not take place.
