ASU Leads, UW Tied For 6th After Opening Round of Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - Sixth-ranked Arizona State grabbed the first round lead at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by Washington at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., Monday.
The Sun Devils shot 11-over 299, two strokes ahead of No. 30 New Mexico and No. 4 Arizona who shot 13-over 301. The host Huskies tied for sixth with No. 22 BYU after both teams carded rounds of 17-over 305. Pepperdine (14-over 302) and No. 13 Stanford (15-over 303) sit in fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Mari Chun from Stanford shot the low round of the day, carding a 4-under 68. Washington State's Amy Eneroth (3-under 69) and New Mexico's Jodi Ewart (1-under 71) finished the first round in second and third place.
Senior Amber Prange led the Huskies, shooting two-over 74 and ending the day tied for seventh with Oregon State's Jill Ferrante, Arizona State's Juliana Murcia and Arizona's Adriana Zwanck. UW freshman Christina Yoon, competing as an individual, is tied for 19th (4-over 76), while senior Courtney McCracken, junior Kim Shin and senior Amy Wang are all tied for 27th (5-over 77).
The 25th annual Ilhanfeldt Invitational field includes 15 teams, six which are ranked in the latest Golf Week Top-30. The tournament continues with the second round Tuesday, the first tee time scheduled for 10 a.m. PT. The final round will take place Wednesday, beginning at 8 a.m. Results and live scoring are available at www.golfstat.com.
