Goodman Leads Cal After First Round of Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - The California women's golf team is tied for 12th with UNLV Monday after shooting an opening round of 317 at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee Country Club.
Arizona State leads the 15-team field at 11-over 299, while New Mexico and Arizona are tied for second at 301. Pepperdine (302) and Stanford (303) round out the top-five teams.
Sophomore Allison Goodman leads all Cal golfers in a tie for 27th at 77, and senior Mika Takayama is tied for 35th at 78. After getting off to a three-over start through two holes, Goodman regrouped to card a two-over total over the final 16 holes. Sophomore Shannon Yocum and freshman Christina Frick shot rounds of 81 to account for the Bears' final counting scores.
Stanford's Mari Chun tops the individual competition at four-under 68, and Washington State's Amy Eneroth is second at 69.
The second of three rounds tees off Tuesday beginning at 10:10 a.m.
