USC Finishes 5th At Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

Junior Paola Moreno and senior Catalina Marin continued their fine play while freshman Caroline Kim posted the low team round of the day to pace the No. 19 USC women's golf team on the final day of the 2006 Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Sahalee C.C. in Redmond, Wash., on Wednesday (Oct. 11).
The Women of Troy finished fifth with a three-day 922 (+58), which included a final-day 304, their low for the tournament. Stanford finished first with an 896 (+32).
Kim, who struggled a bit the first two days and teed off today at 23-over, was rock solid all day on Wednesday and was even for the round until the final two holes. She finished with a 2-over 74 and finished with a 241 (+25), tied for 49th.
Moreno was USC's highest finisher, turning in a third-round 75 for a 222 (+6), good for seventh overall. Stanford's Mari Chun won the individual title with a 215 (-1).
Marin finished tied for 10th after a final-round 76 (+4) gave her a 54-hole total of 225 (+9).
Junior Stephanie Hickerson turned in her best round of the event with a 79 (+7) to give her a three-day 241 (+25), tying her with Kim.
Sophomore Shelcie Takenouchi rounded out USC's efforts with an 86 (+14). She finished 64th with a 248 (+32).
