UCLA Golfers to Compete in The Prestige at PGA West

The sixth-ranked UCLA men's golf team prepares to compete in ThePrestige at PGA West, Oct. 16-17, hosted at the Greg Norman Course in La Quinta, CA.
The Greg Norman Course measures 7,156 yards with a par of 72. TheBruins have won this event three straight times, capturing last year'stournament by 10 strokes with a 54-hole score of 860 (-4).
The 2006 field includes four other Pac-10 teams: No.2 USC, No. 7Stanford, Oregon and California.
'We're obviously looking forward to this event having won it threetimes in a row,' said Head Coach O.D. Vincent. 'We're very confidentplaying in the desert -- we won the Pac-10 Championship at Big Horn in the spring -- so we just need to make sure we're ready to play.'
The Bruins won their first event of the season, the HuskyInvitational, posting a nine-under par score of 855 at Washington National Golf Club. Sophomore Lucas Lee placed second with a score of 210 (-6).
UCLA's lineup for The Prestige features one senior, two juniors and apair of sophomores boasting six individual titles and more than 327 rounds of collegiate experience.
Senior Chris Heintz last year won his first tournament, theBraveheart Classic, and recorded five Top 10 finishes. He tied for sixth at the 2006 Pac-10 Championship and played in his second NCAA Tournament.
Junior Daniel Im won the Pac-10 individual title, leading the Bruinsto their second conference crown in four years. The victory was his second collegiate title, and he earned 1st team all-conference honors and honorable mention All-America acclaim.
Junior Kevin Chappell won the 2006 NCAA East Regional championship securing UCLA's fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. Chappell averaged 73.4 and was named to the All-Pac-10 2nd Team and to thehonorable mention All-America team.
Sophomores Erik Flores and Lucas Lee enjoyed fine seasons last year.Flores, who earned 2nd Team All-America honors from the GCAA, tied for 27th at the NCAA Championship. Lee won twice as a freshman and earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors.
