Crimson Takes Game One Of Fall World Series

PULLMAN, Wash. - Outfielder Zach Borba had a pair of hits and three RBI's while starter Ryan Graves threw four scoreless innings as the Crimson squad defeated the Gray 10-1 in the first game of the Crimson and Gray World Series Monday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field.
Borba, a senior in his first year at WSU after transferring from UNLV, led a nine-hith Crimson attack with a pair of singles, a sacrifice fly, and three RBIs. Junior shortstop Paul Gran and sophomore catcher Greg Lagreid each added two hits.
Graves, a freshman righthander, worked four strong innings, allowing just two hits in picking up the win. Another freshman, Connor Lambert, worked the final four innings, allowing just one run, in picking up the save.The Gray team managed five hits on the afternoon, two from freshman outfielder Matt Fanelli and one each by freshmen Kenneth Bartz, Michael Weber and Tyler Owens.
Game two of the series is set for Tuesday afternoon at Bailey-Brayton Field with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
