Trent Edwards To Miss Final Five Games Of Career Due To Broken Foot

Stanford, Calif. - Senior quarterback Trent Edwards will miss the final five games of his Stanford career due to a broken bone in his right foot the school announced today. Edwards suffered the injury on Stanford's first offensive series in a game against Arizona last Saturday at Stanford Stadium.

Edwards will be available to the media at 12:45 pm, PT, on Tuesday as part of the weekly Stanford Football Press Conference, which takes place in the ABC Rooms of the Arrillaga Family Sports Center on the Stanford campus. The press conference begins with comments from T.C. Ostrander at 11:45 am, PT. Head coach Walt Harris address the media at 12:15 pm, PT.

'Trent Edwards has done a tremendous job during his Stanford career both on and off the field,' offered Harris. 'He epitomizes what a Stanford Football player should be - a class act, a great leader and an outstanding football player. We will miss him on the field for the rest of this season, but I believe he has a bright future both in the game of football and beyond.'

'It's devastating to have my Stanford Football career end this way,' said Edwards. 'But now I just want to do everything I can to help our other quarterbacks out. I am proud to have played quarterback at Stanford.'

Edwards finishes his Stanford career ranked among the school's all-time leaders in pass completions (487, 6th), pass attempts (865, 6th), passing yards (5429, 7th), total offense (5628, 7th), touchdown passes (36, 7th) and completion percentage (56.3, 487-865, 10th). He played in 35 games with 31 of those appearances coming in a starting role.

Edwards' top statistical season came in 2005 when he passed for 1934 yards and 17 touchdowns with only seven interceptions and a 62.7 completion percentage (168-268) that ranks 10th on the school's single-season list.

Stanford (0-7, 0-4 Pac-10) travels to Arizona State (3-3, 0-3 Pac-10) for a Pac-10 contest this Saturday, October 21 (12:30 pm, MT/PT).
