He later followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over UCSB's Philip Therp. Kohlloeffel will meet USD's Thomas Liversage on Friday.

Sophomore Haythem Abid also posted a pair of wins to join Kohlloeffel in Friday's round of 16. Senior Chris Surapol and junior Mathieu Dehaine were playing late second-round matches.

Dropping second-round singles matches Thursday were sophomore Michael Look and junior Jeremy Drean. Sophomore Andew Eklov lost in the first round to UCI's Shimpei Suzuki, 7-6, 6-4.

The Bruins also have two doubles teams still alive in the tournament, as the duos of Kohlloeffel/Surapol and Dehaine/Drean will be competing in Friday's round of 16.
