Opening Day of ITA Regionals In The Books

STANFORD, Calif.- The Stanford women's tennis team was impressive on the opening day of the 2006 ITA NorthWest Regional on Friday afternoon at Berkeley, Calif.
In completed singles action, Theresa Logar and Jessica Nguyen both rolled into the round of 32. Top-seeded Logar defeated Oregon's Erika Januskova 6-4, 6-2 while No. 8 Nguyen blanked Nevada's Bach Lan Phan 6-0, 6-0.
Doubles matches were also underway, with three Cardinal teams recording convincing victories. The team of Anne Yelsey and Lindsay Burdette, seeded No. 4, defeated Gonzaga's Erin Humphrey and Sydney Lederhouse 8-3. Celia Durkin and Nguyen, seeded No. 8, topped UC Davis' Desiree Stone and Herzyl Legaspi 8-3. Also in action was the tandem of Megan Doheny and Whitney Deason, who defeated Laetitia Tan and Ly Huong Dinh 8-3.
Competition resumes tomorrow morning with singles and doubles.
