Ardies Falls in Singles Bracket at ITA Regionals

BERKELEY, Calif. - Husky freshman Joyce Ardies lost in the Round of 32 at the ITA Women's Northwest Regionals on Saturday. Ardies, the lone Husky still competing in the undefeated bracket for singles, dropped her match to the No. 15 seed Maria Mizyuk of Nevada 6-2, 6-4.
Ardies (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also teamed with junior Tara Simpson in the doubles bracket. The Husky duo lost 8-2 in the Round of 16 to the No. 2-seed, Oregon's AnaCelia Olivos and Domenica Dieskova.
In Round Robin Consolation Singles action, Simpson (Vancouver, B.C.) defeated Portland's Jenna Tanzer 6-3, 6-1. Teammate Allison Rainey (Mercer Island, Wash.) lost her round robin match 6-0, 6-2 to Oregon's Olivos.
Melinda Wong (West Seattle, Wash.) advanced to the fourth round of the Consolation Singles bracket by winning her match 6-0, 6-2 over Santa Clara's Meghan Madden. Victoria Brymer (Apple Valley, Calif.) and Lauren Summers (Edmonds, Wash.) each lost their third round matches in the Consolation Singles bracket.
