Cal Shows Improvement in Round 2 of Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, Calif. - California improved by 17 shots to climb into a tie for 13th place Saturday after the second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears fired a 295 today and are tied with Oregon State and Tulsa at 606.

Host Stanford leads the competition at four-under 564, and Arizona dropped from first to second at 569. Top-ranked Georgia is third at 570, followed by Vanderbilt (580) and New Mexico and Duke at 585.

Sophomore Allison Goodman is tied for 20th at three-over 145 to lead all Cal golfers. Goodman was at even-par 71 today after finishing the second round at three-under on the front nine, including no bogeys. Senior Mika Takayama led the Bears with a one-under 70 today and is tied for 32nd at 148. Takayama topped the Bears with four birdies. Sophomore Shannon Yocum is tied for 34th at 149 after shooting a 75 in the second round.

Cal freshman Christina Frick carded a 79 today, an improvement of six shots, and is tied for 72nd at 164. Junior Enu Chung also took six shots off of her opening-round score.

Georgia's Whitney Wade paces the individual competition at six-under 136. Arkansas' Stacey Lewis, Stanford's Lauren Todd and Arizona's Alison Walshe are tied for second at 138.

Cal tees off the final round Sunday beginning at 9:10 a.m.
