Lynch, Frampton, Blunt Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Tailback Marshawn Lynch of California and safety Eric Frampton and punter Darryl Blunt, both of Washington State, have been named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.
Lynch, a junior from Oakland, Calif., was a pivotal performer in California's 31-24 overtime win against Washington. Lynch rushed 21 times for 150 yards (7.1-yard average) and two touchdowns, including a 22-yard touchdown run in overtime to give Cal the win. He added four receptions for 53 yards to give him 203 all-purpose yards. The California offense put up 486 yards in total offense (195 rushing, 291 passing) and had no turnovers. It marks the fourth time in eight weeks that a California player has garnered Pac-10 offensive player of the week honors.
Frampton, a senior from San Jose, Calif., and Blunt, a sophomore from Los Angeles, Calif., played key roles in Washington State's 34-23 upset win against No. 14-ranked Oregon.
Frampton led the Washington State defense with a game- and career-high 16 tackles, nine solo, including one tackle for loss and he broke up a pass. The WSU defense forced four Oregon turnovers, including an interception returned for a touchdown. Frampton becomes the third Cougar to be named Pac-10 defensive player of the week this season.
Blunt averaged 49.3 yards on three punts, with a long of 62 yards and two punts downed inside the 10-yard line, including one on the 1-yard line.
Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were running backs Yvenson Bernard of Oregon State, Ryan Torain of Arizona State and Dwight Tardy of Washington State and wide receiver Marcus Everett of UCLA. Also nominated on defense were linebackers Desmond Bishop of California and Joey LaRocque of Oregon State and ends Kyle Caldwell of Arizona State and Justin Hickman of UCLA. Kicker Tom Schneider of California was nominated for special teams play.
