Slovic Advances to Finals of ITA West Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. -- No. 1 seed Alex Slovic won a three-set match to advance to the finals at the ITA Northwest Regionals in Stanford, Calif., on Monday. Slovic beat the No. 3 seed, Hawaii's Andreas Weber 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2 to advance to the finals for a second-consecutive year.

Slovic will face the No. 4 seed Jakub Cech of Fresno State on Tuesday at 11 a.m. The winner automatically qualifies for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio.

In the doubles semifinals bracket, the Huskies No. 14-seeded pair of Andy Kuharszky and Derek Drabble lost to Stanford's Paul Morrissey and Blake Muller 8-4. Morrissey and Muller knocked off the No. 1 seeds, Slovic and Daniel Chu on Sunday.
