Slovic Falls in ITA West Regionals Finals

STANFORD, Calif. -- For a second-consecutive year, the Huskies' Alex Slovic will have to settle as the runner up in the singles bracket of the ITA Northwest Regional in Stanford, Calif. The senior from Pancevo, Yugoslavia battled hard, but dropped a third-set tie breaker (7-4) to Fresno State's Jakub Cech on Tuesday.

Slovic, seeded No. 1, won the first set in a tie-breaker (7-4), before dropping the next two sets 2-6, 6-7 (4). Cech, seeded fourth, earned the automatic qualifying singles spot for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Nov. 2-5 in Columbus, Ohio.
