Travis Buck Selected For Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars Showcase Game

Oct. 24, 2006

Tempe, Ariz. - Former Sun Devil baseball standout Travis Buck has been named to the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars Showcase Game, which will take place on Friday, October 27 at Surprise Stadium. Buck, who is playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs, was a first round pick of the Oakland Athletics in 2005.

The Rising Stars Showcase is the Fall League's version of Major League Baseball's Futures Game, which leads off the annual All-Star Game festivities each July. Buck played in the 2006 Futures Game in Pittsburgh. Each big league club will have at least one player in the game. Scouting and minor league directors of every organization selected the players for the Showcase Game.

Buck is hitting .263 with one home run and seven runs batted in four games for the Desert Dogs so far in the Fall League. He missed the first week of the season while rehabbing a shoulder injury suffered during the minor league season.
