Davis, Calif. - The Washington State swim team improved to a 4-0 record in dual meets with a 170-92 victory over UC Davis Friday at the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif. Senior Erin McCleave turned in three individual wins for the Cougars while sophomore Afton Pickett and freshman Michaela Ahlin contributed two wins each.

'It was a very solid meet from start to finish,' said Head Coach Erica Quam. 'They were excited to have us race and we would really like to get them on the schedule for next year. Overall, everyone's times improved from last weekend which was good to see. We need a little more work on our relay exchanges, but I think we're making progress. We're just taking steps.'

UC Davis started strong with a win in the 200 medley relay. The Cougars, however, bounced back to take first place in ten of the 14 total events, including a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. McCleave came in first in the 200 freestyle (1:49.10), the 100 freestyle (51.43), and the 500 freestyle (4:54.14). Ahlin turned in another strong performance for the Cougars as she took first in the 200 butterfly with a season best time of 2:04.49 and the 100 butterfly (57.14). The Cougars swept the top three spots in the 200 backstroke as seniors Lindsay Backhouse and Laurie Gregg came in second and third place in the event, respectively.

Jamie MacLeod took first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.57, a season best. Kayli Changstrom came in first in the 1000 freestyle (10:20.59), swimming the event for the first time this season. Lina Daugvilaite came in second in the event with a time of 10:31.25. She was also second in the 500 freestyle (5:08.24).

Bryn Mooney finished strongly for the Cougars once again with second place finishes in both the 200 butterfly (2:06.70) and the 100 butterfly (57.38). Freshman Shawna Keller came in second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.68 and senior Monika Povilonyte came in second in both the 100 (1:04.67) and 200 breaststroke (2:20.20).

The Aggies were paced by freshman Heidi Kucera who won two events for UC Davis. Kucera took first place in the 200 IM (2:07.75) and broke her own school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.53. She also placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.54.
