TEMPE, Ariz. - Even with the Sun Devils tough play and Paige Mittelstaedt's 15 kills, Sydney Donahue's 14 digs and two blocks apiece from Staci Smith, Marina Mercer and Tierra Burnley, ASU was unable to stop the third-ranked Stanford Cardinal Friday night as Stanford won in three games with scores of 30-24, 30-22 and 30-24. The Sun Devils drop to 11-10 overall and 3-7 in Pac-10 action, while Stanford moves to 18-2 and 9-1 in conference play.

Game one found the Sun Devils leading throughout most of the game before the Cardinal stormed back with a .450 hitting percentage and five kills from Foluke Akinradewo to take the game 30-24.

Game two saw the Cardinals come out stronger as Kristin Richards and Foluke Akinradewo both tagged six kills apiece with Cynthia Barboza coming in behind them with five as they took the second 30-22.

The Sun Devils hung neck-and-neck with Stanford in game three with a .211 hitting percentage to Stanford's .255 and 14 kills to the Cardinal 20, with Stanford pulling away with a 30-24 win to end the match.

The Sun Devils will return to Pac-10 action tomorrow as they host the #11 California Golden Bears. The match is set to kick-off at 7 p.m. at ASU's Wells Fargo Arena.
