Women Of Troy Finish 4th In Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

The USC women's golf team, ranked 13th in the most recent Golfworld.com Top 25, finished fourth in a 17-team field at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Anthem C.C. in Henderson, Nev., on Wednesday (Nov. 1).
The Women of Troy, who wrapped up their fall competition slate, posted a team tournament low 290 in the final round for a three-day combined 875 (+11). They finished 20 strokes behind first-place Oklahoma State (855) while Arizona State was second (865) and Pepperdine was third (871). The rest of the field was at least 29 shots off the winning pace.
Senior Veronica Felibert posted her second sub-par round of the tournament, a 2-under 70 effort that helped her climb into a tie for 17th with a 218 (+2). Tied with Felibert, whose 70 tied her low round of the year, were juniors Paola Moreno and Dewi-Claire Schreefel, who both shot 1-over 73s to close out the event.
Senior Catalina Marin finished tied for 31st after a final-round 76 gave her a 223 (+7) while freshman Caroline Kim posted her lowest 18-hole score of the tournament, a 2-over 74. She finished tied for 64th in the 88-woman field with a 231 (+15).
The Trojans are off until the spring semester, when they return to action in the 2007 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
