Men's Soccer To Host Creighton In NCAA First Round Friday

SEATTLE - Washington received an at-large berth to the 2006 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship and will host Creighton in the first round, Friday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. at Husky Soccer Field, the NCAA selection committee announced Monday. The winner of Friday's match will face 10th-seed Santa Clara in Santa Clara, Calif., Wed., Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.
The Huskies compiled a regular season record of 12-6-1 and finished fifth in the Pac-10 with a 4-5-1 conference mark. The NCAA bid is the 11th during the 15-year tenure of head coach Dean Wurzberger, and 18th in program history. Washington, which has advanced to the postseason nine times in the last 11 seasons, last appeared in 2004 and recorded a school-record trip to the Sweet 16 in 2003.
Creighton finished the season with an overall record of 13-4-3 and won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title with a 2-1 overtime victory over Bradley.
