Nov. 6, 2006

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team earned its ninth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament this afternoon, as the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee announced the 64-team field. It is the 16th NCAA berth for the Cardinal, which enters postseason play with a 13-6-1 overall record.

Stanford will meet Nevada in the opening round on Friday at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara. The Cardinal will play the second game of a double-header, with kickoff tentatively set for 7 p.m.

The Wolfpack finished tied for third in the Western Athletic Conference, but earned an automatic bid with a shootout win over Fresno State in the WAC Tournament yesterday. This will be the first meeting between the Cardinal and the Wolfpack.

Santa Clara will host the first and second rounds, with the Stanford-Nevada winner playing the Santa Clara-USC winner on Sunday.
