UW Basketball Gains Exposure

SEATTLE - Through its exclusive multi-year agreement with the University of Washington athletic department, FSN Northwest will produce 11 of the Husky men's basketball team's 12 non-conference games this season, beginning with this weekend's three games of the Basketball Travelers Classic.

Washington opens its season Sunday against Pepperdine, a West Coast Conference program that led from 1997-99 by current UW head coach Lorenzo Romar. UW will face Nicholls State on Monday night then close out the tournament with a Tuesday night game against Northern Iowa. The first game each day of the round-robin event will begin at 4:30 with the Huskies tipping-off at 7:30 each night.

With fewer than 300 season tickets remaining to watch UW games in person at Bank of America Arena, FSN Northwest is the network Husky fans can always turn to for the biggest and best moments of the 2006-07 men's basketball season. Additionally, a special UW season preview show will be televised by FSN Northwest on Tuesday, November 14.

A television partner with the UW since 1989, the two parties announced in July a new, six-year agreement that provides FSN Northwest the exclusive rights to all event and ancillary programming for the football and men's basketball programs.

Washington enters the season ranked 17th nationally in the preseason Associated Press poll. The Huskies are of three Pacific-10 Conference teams in the top-25 and the only ranked school from the Northwest. NCAA runner-up UCLA is listed in the sixth spot and Arizona is 10th.

UW finished last season with a sparkling 26-7 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season. The Huskies are is seeking a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth for the first time in school history. Over the last three season, the program's 74 combined wins are the second-highest three-year total in school history, topped only by a 77-win run from 1951-53. UW advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament in both 2005 and 2006, its first ever back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances.
