Danielle Ikoma Signs National Letter Of Intent With Gymnastics Program

Stanford, Ca - One of the nation's top high school gymnasts, and described by the Stanford coaching staff as an exceptional student-athlete, Danielle Ikoma, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the nationally-ranked Cardinal women's gymnastics program in the Fall of 2007.
The announcement was made on Friday by Stanford head coach Kristen Smyth.
'We are thrilled that Danielle has chosen to join the Stanford family,' said Smyth, who will begin her sixth season as head coach at Stanford in 2007. 'Danielle is undoubtedly one of the top recruits in the country and has impressed us with her outstanding leadership, competitive spirit and work ethic. She is an aggressive balance beam competitor, excellent all-around performer and is going to be a wonderful addition to our team.'
Ikoma (Naperville, IL) is an honors student at Naperville Central High School. She is a five-time Junior Olympic National qualifier
(2002-2006) and trains under Dan and Beth Miller at Arena Gymnastics in Joliet, Illinois. At the Level 10 Nationals in 2005, Ikoma was the balance beam champion, placed second on uneven bars, second in the all-around and third on vault. At the Level 10 Nationals in 2006 she was the balance beam champion and placed third in the All-Around.
Danielle has also been a member of the Region 5 All Star Team the last five years and has trained and competed internationally in El Salvador, France, Germany and China. Danielle was voted the 2006 Region 5 Gymnast of the Year by her coaches and peers.
