Sydney Donahue Becomes ASU's All-Time Leader In Digs
Nov. 10, 2006
TEMPE, Ariz. - The 1,061 fans at the ASU volleyball match with #24 Oregon on Friday night witnessed history early in the second game, as junior libero Sydney Donahue collected her fifth dig of the match, giving her 1,598 for her career. That vaulted her past Christy Nore for the all-time school record, a record she had held since 1988. The game was stopped as Donahue was presented with the ball while the crowd gave her a standing ovation. She finished the evening with 20 digs to lead the team to a 3-1 upset of the 24th ranked Ducks.
Donahue now has 1,613 digs during her almost three years in Tempe. Last season, she set the single season school record with 628 digs. She is on pace to break that record this season, with three matches remaining in the 2006 regular season.
