Cougars Improve To 3-0 With 84-67 Win Over Radford

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Derrick Low scored 14 points and Kyle Weaver added 12 to lead Washington State to a 84-67 victory over Radford Sunday in the John Thompson Foundation Classic.

Ivory Clark finished with 11 points and nine rebounds for the Cougars, who shot 60 percent (33 of 55) from the field and improved to 3-0 under new coach Tony Bennett, who replaced his father Dick when he retired.

The Cougars, who finished last season on a seven-game losing streak, beat UAB, host Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Radford by an average of 16 points in the three-day classic. Radford (0-3) lost to Washington State, Birmingham and Milwaukee by an average of 14 points.

The Highlanders, playing a Pac-10 Conference team for the first time, got 16 points each from Martell McDuffy and Amir Johnson, while Chris Oliver added 15 points and five rebounds.

Washington State broke away from a 14-14 tie by going on an 18-3 run to lead 32-17 on a basket by Weaver. The run included consecutive 3-pointers by Chris Matthews and Taylor Rochestie that made it 23-14.

The Cougars led 38-25 at the half and were never challenged the rest of the way.

Washington State's Daven Harmeling injured his right ankle with 4:06 to play and did not return. He had two points in eight minutes.
