No. 6 USC Earns Another Bay Area Sweep; Wins 3-0 At No. 12 California

LOS ANGELES -- Junior All-America candidate Asia Kaczor had 23 kills Saturday as the No. 6 USC Women of Troy swept the No. 12 California Golden Bears, 3-0 (30-23, 30-28, 30-25), at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley. Kaczor recorded 49 kills for an 8.17 kpg average in 3-0 sweeps on the road against Cal and No. 2 Stanford.

USC improves to 23-3 on the season and 12-3 in the Pac-10 Conference. The Women of Troy are now tied for third with UCLA, one half-game back behind co-leaders Stanford and Washington. USC will travel to UCLA next Friday (Nov. 17) for a key Pac-10 match at Pauley Pavilion, starting at 7 p.m.

Kaczor hit .326 for the evening with four digs, three block assists and two assists.

Diane Copenhagen had 12 kills for USC while Jessica Gysin added 10 kills. Senior All-America libero Debora Seilhamer (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Colegio Ponceno) had 21 kills for the Women of Troy.

Angie Pressey led California (17-8, 6-8) with 12 kills on the evening. Natalie Smart had nine kills and hit .571 (9-1-14) for the Golden Bears.

USC had a 16-3 lead in the third game before holding off the host Golden Bears at the end.
