Three Huskies Receive Pac-10 Women's Soccer Accolades

Nov. 10, 2006

WALNUT, CREEK, Calif. - Three Washington women's soccer players were honored by the Pac-10, including junior Dani Bridges who was named a second-team all-conference selection.

A midfielder from Maple Valley, Wash., Bridges scored two goals and distributed two assists for the Huskies who posted a 7-12-1 record. The Tahoma High School product has started every game since her arrival at UW.

Also recognized by the Pac-10 was sophomore midfielder Jenna Robison who received honorable mention all-conference acclaim. The Livermore, Calif. native also recorded two goals and two assists.

Newcomer Nikki Murray, from Des Moines, Wash., was voted to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team by the conference coaches. The Mt. Rainier High School product started all 20 games on defense for UW, which registered five shutouts and limited five other opponents to one goal.

Despite being snubbed by the NCAA Tournament committee, Pac-10 runner-up Oregon claimed two of the major awards. Second-year coach Tara Erickson was named the Coach of the Year. The former Tara Bilanski, a graduate of Puyallup (Wash.) High School, was a four-year letterman player at Washington from 1992-95. She served as an assistant on the Husky coaching staff between 1996 and 2000 under current UW mentor Lesle Gallimore.

The Ducks were projected last in the preseason coaches poll, but Erickson directed them to a second-place finish in the conference standings with a 6-1-2 record and a 12-6-2 overall mark.

Oregon forward Nicole Garbin received the Pac-10 Player of the Year award and UCLA's Lauren Cheney was the Freshman of the Year.
