Richard Sherman Named Pac-10 Offensive Player Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford freshman wide receiver Richard Sherman has been named a U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Player of the Week on the offensive side of the ball after his performance in Stanford's first victory of the 2006 season at Washington last Saturday, November 11. Sherman caught a career-high-tying six passes for a career-high 177 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown reception that was Stanford's longest play from the line of scrimmage this season.
Sherman is the first Stanford player to win a weekly Pac-10 football honor this season.
Arizona's Antoine Cason won the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight occasion, while Arizona State's Jesse Ainsworth was the Special Teams winner.
Stanford (1-9, 1-6 Pac-10) returns to Stanford Stadium for its final home game of the season this Saturday, November 18 (12:30 pm, PT). The game will be televised live on both Fox Sports Net Bay Area and Fox Sports Net Northwest.
