Arizona opens its 2006-07 regular season slate with a Tues., Nov. 14 home game against Nicholls State, marking the first meeting between the two programs ... The Wildcats are working with a much deeper and taller roster this year, as improvement in the paint is already noticeable ... Last year's squad averaged 34.1 rebounds per game, while UA averaged 51 boards in its first two exhibition games ... JR C Suzy Bofia averaged a double-double of 16.5 ppg and 15.5 rpg against CSU-Pueblo and Grand Canyon.

The Sun Devils opened their season with an 87-60 win over Nebraska and a 67-49 defeat of 20/18 New Mexico in the Veteran's Day Classic in Tempe, Ariz ... The team will play three games this week, including a Sun., Nov. 19 matchup with perennial power Tennessee at Wells Fargo Arena ... The game will be televised live on FSN at 12 noon MT ... SR F Emily Westerberg carried the team with 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting against the Cornhuskers, followed up with a 12-point effort against the Lobos ... ASU has won 24 straight regular season home games.
21/21 CALIFORNIA (1-0)
California put together a 71-56 win over Saint Mary's to open up its 2006-07 campaign ... The Golden Bears were led by last year's Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, G Alexis Gray-Lawson who went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe to rack up 22 points, while dishing out three assists ... FR G Lauren Greif looks like a solid addition to the Cal team, hitting three of her six 3-pt field goal attempts, tallying five assists and just two turnovers at the two-guard position ... SO F/C Devanei Hampton played just eight minutes as she is still nursing a knee injury.
Oregon will have its final exhibition tune-up this evening in a Mon., Nov. 13 contest with Vanguard, before opening the regular season against UC Santa Barbara on Fri., Nov. 17 on the road ... SR F Eleanor Haring led the team with a 22-point effort on 9-of-19 shooting against the Australian Institute of Sport on Fri., Nov. 3 ... UO surrendered just 58 points in the contest, limiting its opponent to just 21-of-61 from the field, a 34.4 shooting percentage.

With virtually a whole new roster, Oregon State put together a 60-38 win over Southern Utah to open its season at 1-0 ... The Beavers will play at Cal Poly SLO on Tues., Nov. 14 for their first road test of the season ... The two teams have met one other time, an 89-39 OSU victory in 1994, which stands as the sixth all-time largest margin of victory in program history ... SR G Casey Nash tied her career-high with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting on Saturday ... FR F Judie Lomax posted her first career double-double, with an 11-point, 14-rebound game.

Expectations are high for the 2006-07 Stanford team and things got off to a great start as the fourth-ranked Cardinal took care of Loyola Marymount, 88-61 in the first round of the preseason WNIT ... SR F/C Kristen Newlin banked in her seventh career double-double with a 15-point, 10-rebound game ... SR F/C Brooke Smith led all scorers with 26 points, knocking down 12-of-20 from the floor ... The team will face 24/24 BYU in the second round of action tonight, Mon., Nov. 13 ... Stanford has won 69 of its last 73 home contests and 12 straight dating back to Dec. 4, 2005.
23/23 UCLA (1-0)
Things got very sweet for UCLA last week after signing the No. 3-ranked recruiting class in the nation ... The Bruins avenged last season's 90-81 overtime loss to UC Santa Barbara by defeating the Gauchos this go-around, 87-62, to open the 2006-07 season ... JR F Lindsey Pluimer scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead all players ... UCLA is now 10-2 all-time against UCSB and 22-11 all-time in season openers ... The 23rd-ranked Bruins have a big test this week as they take to the road to face 5/5 Tennessee on Thurs., Nov. 16, followed up by a Sat., Nov. 18 contest at UC Riverside.

USC picked up an 85-50 win over Long Beach State to open the season and the Galen Center ... SR G Shay Murphy scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the second half, while SR C Chloé Kerr added 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting ... The Women of Troy will redshirt FR G Jacki Gemelos and JR G Camille LeNoir this season, allowing the two to heal from a torn ACL and a broken hip, respectively ... JR G Brynn Cameron will also be red-shirting.

The 25th-ranked Washington Huskies open their season on Tues., Nov. 14 as they travel to Marquette for their first-ever meeting with the Golden Eagles ... From there, UW will travel to Purdue for a Fri., Nov. 17 matchup, its third-such game with the Boilermakers ... Washington has played in two exhibition games, winning both by an average of 52.5 points ... The Huskies are a bit banged up, as SR G Cameo Hicks injured her knee in practice over the weekend ... She is listed as day-to-day.

Washington State dropped two road contests to open the season, including an 80-51 game to 15/16 Kentucky and a 45-37 tough loss to Wake Forest ... The team looks to rebound with a Fri., Nov. 17 game at home against Sacramento State ... SR G Adriane Ferguson averaged eight points and 5.5 rebounds over the two-game stretch, leading all Cougars with 12 points against the Wildcats ... SR F Kate Benz became the fourth person in Washington State history to reach the 700-rebound plateau, now owning 710.
