Men's Tennis Signs One Player to National Letter of Intent
Nov. 16, 2006
SEATTLE, Wash. - Washington men's tennis head coach Matt Anger announced the signing of one standout prep player to a national letter of intent. Skyler Tateishi (Kailua, Hawai'i) will join the squad for the 2007-08 season.
TennisRecruiting.net lists Tateishi, who attends Punahou School in Honolulu, as a four-star recruit on a five-star scale. That same website lists Tateishi as the No. 2 recruit from the state of Hawai'i and No. 97 on the national RPI list.
As a junior, Tateishi helped Punahou to the Carlsmith Ball/HHSAA State Tennis Championships title. Tateishi was the No. 1 singles seed for the tournament, but fell to one of his teammates in the semifinals and took third in the singles bracket.
Tateishi was the winner of the 2006 USTA/Aloha Airlines Junior Summer Sectionals in the 18s age division and was named the Jim Howe Sportsmanship Award winner this past October for the USTA Hawai'i Pacific Sectional.
