No. 15 Cal Volleyball Wins 3-0 at Oregon State

CORVALLIS, ORE. - Led by junior Angie Pressey's 16 kills and .448 hitting percentage (16k, 3e, 29att.), the No. 15-ranked California women's volleyball team defeated Oregon State, 3-0 (30-24, 30-17, 30-25) Thursday night in Corvallis, Ore. The Golden Bears, who improved to 18-8 overall and 7-8 in the Pac-10, were also paced by freshman Mindi Wiley, who hit an impressive .692 (9k, 0e, 13) for the match, and senior libero Jillian Davis, who had a team-high 19 digs and two service aces. Oregon State fell to 3-21 overall and 0-15 in the Pac-10.
Other notable performances for Cal, which snapped a three-match losing streak, were junior middle hitter Ellen Orchard, who hit .500 for the match with nine kills and only one error in 16 attempts. Orchard also had five block assists. She is now hitting .314 on the year with 132 total blocks, the third-best single-season block total in school history.
Oregon State was led by freshman Rachel Rourke's 14 kills. As a team, the Bears out-hit the Beavers, .339 to .103. Cal has now won 17 or more matches in each of the last five years.
The Bears will next travel to Oregon, Friday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. at McArthur Court in Eugene. Cal will be looking to avenge a 3-1 loss to the Ducks earlier this season, Oct. 20 at Haas Pavilion.
