Washington State Beats UTSA 67-44 in Home Opener

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Mac Hopson scored 13 points to lead a balanced Washington State offense in a 67-44 win over Texas-San Antonio on Friday night.
Kyle Weaver added 12 points and Chris Matthews and Derrick Low both scored 10 for the Cougars (4-0) in their 18th straight home-opener victory.
Isaiah Allen led Texas-San Antonio (1-2) with 13 points. Keith Spencer added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Southland Conference team.
Washington State, of the Pacific-10 Conference, led 33-14 at the half after forcing 13 turnovers. The 14 points tied UTSA's record for fewest points in one half.
The Cougars led 10-0 after five minutes and 12-1 before the Roadrunners scored their first field goal at 11:50. The Cougars outshot UTSA 52-24 percent from the field in the first half and 49-33 percent for the game.
WSU improved to 4-0 for the first time since starting 5-0 in 1996-97. That season started the current string of 10 consecutive losing seasons at WSU.
