UW Names Pepsi Players Of The Week For Apple Cup

SEATTLE -- After each game, Coach Tyrone Willingham and the Husky football coaching staff will name the Huskies' Pepsi Players of the Game for that week's performance. The winners following the UW's 35-32 Apple Cup win at Washington State are tailback Louis Rankin, receiver Marcel Reece, linebacker Scott White, safety C.J. Wallace and special teamers Chris Stevens and Marlon Wood.
Rankin, a junior from Stockton, Calif., led the Huskies' rushing attack with 118 yards on 17 carries, scoring on runs of 77 and eight yards.Reece, a junior from Hesperia, Calif., posted a career-high 107 receiving yards on three catches. He scored on a 69 yard reception from Carl Bonnell.
White, a senior from Lemon Grove, Calif., had nine tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass breakups to go with a fumble recovery, the UW's only takeaway of the game.
Wallace, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., led all players with 11 total tackles.
Stevens, a sophomore from Mojave, Calif., and Wood, a senior from Tampa, Fla., were honored for their special teams play. Stevens blocked a punt and then covered the loose ball in the endzone for a touchdown, the UW's first punt block for a TD since the 1991 Rose Bowl. Wood notched 124 yards on three kickoff returns, including an 87-yard return that set up Rankin's first TD. The 87-yard return was the longest play of the year for the Huskies.
