UW Men Rise to 16th in AP poll and 13th in Coaches Rankings

SEATTLE - The Washington men's basketball team, off to a 4-0 start, rose one spot to 16th in the Associated Press rankings released Monday. The Huskies climbed two places, into the No. 13 position in this week's ESPN/USA Today coaches poll.
Washington is one of three Pac-10 teams in the top-25, joining fifth-ranked UCLA and No. 15 Arizona.
The Huskies have six games scheduled against four opponents ranked in the top-15, including No. 4 Pittsburgh, No. 5 UCLA, No. 6 Louisiana State and No. 15 Arizona. A fifth foe, Gonzaga, is listed 23rd in the coaches poll.

UW was not ranked in last year's preseason polls, but finished the 2006 season ranked No. 17 in the final AP poll and No. 12 by ESPN/USA Today. The Huskies opened the 2006-07 season ranked 17th in the AP poll and 16th in the coaches poll.
The Huskies return to action, Friday, Nov. 24 against Eastern Washington. Tip-off is 5 p.m. at Bank of America Arena for the game that airs live on FSN Northwest.
