WSU took an early lead in the second game and stayed within two points until the final third of the game when Stanford went on a 12-5 run to get to the 30-23 win. Richards added nine kills in this game as the Cardinal hit .300 and held the Cougs to .152.
Stanford went on to hit .459 in the third game to take a 30-18 win and sweep the match.
'We did not come to play tonight,' Cougar Head Coach Brian Heffernan said. 'Stanford's second team was on the floor tonight and we came out and were on cruise control for the first game, had an opportunity to win the game and unfortunately did not execute on our side of the net. That was the story the entire night and we needed to do a better job.'
