Wallace Named First-Team All-Pac-10

Nov. 27, 2006

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior strong safety C.J. Wallace capped his outstanding Washington career today by being named to the 2006 All-Pacific-10 Conference First Team. Husky senior linebacker Scott White was named to the second team while seven Huskies earned honorable mention. The All-Pac-10 teams, voted on by the conference coaches, were announced today.

California tailback Marshawn Lynch and cornerback Daymeion Hughes were named the conference's offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively, while USC's Pete Carroll picked up the Pac-10's coach of the year award. Three freshmen -- Oregon's Jairus Byrd, USC's Taylor Mays and UCLA's Alterraun Verner -- shared the freshman of the year award.

Wallace, from Sacramento, Calif., led the Huskies with 105 tackles. His 105 tackles and 62 solo stops are both most in the Pac-10, while his 8.8 tackles per game ranks third. Wallace was named the UW's defensive team MVP at the annual postseason awards banquet and was also honored as one of four team captains for the 2006 season.

White, from Lemon Grove, Calif., was the Huskies' No. 2 tackler in 2006, compiling a total of 90 stops, good for seventh in the Pac-10. Additionally, he led Washington with four interceptions, tied for third-most in the conference.

Seven Huskies earned honorable mention: senior kicker Michael Braunstein (Gilbert, Ariz.), senior punter Sean Douglas (Bellevue, Neb.), senior cornerback Dashon Goldson (Carson, Calif.), junior defensive end Greyson Gunheim (Sebastopol, Calif.), senior receiver Sonny Shackelford (Los Angeles), senior quarterback Isaiah Stanback (Seattle) and senior guard Clay Walker (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
