Nov. 29, 2006

The 2006-2007 men's swimming team, ranked No. 5 in the latest Top 25, visits the south this week to participate in the University of Georgia Fall Invitational Friday through Sunday (Dec. 1-3) at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

Prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. each day. Finals start at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. All times are EST.

The Trojans are coming off of a pair of Pac-10 dual-meet wins over Arizona State (107-33) and Arizona (76-65) on Nov. 10-11. USC also defeated Cal State Northridge in its only other dual meet action.

The men's team, which was seventh at the 2006 NCAA Championships and third at the Pac-10s, returns seven of its eight All-Americans from last season, which includes junior Viktor Bodrogi (200y butterfly finalist), Mihaly Flaskay (relay), Jensen (500y and 1650y free finalist), Sam Masson (100y butterfly finalist), Sean Sussex (relay), Michael Hilde (3-meter springboard finalist) and junior Bryce Elser (relay).

Other Trojans back with NCAA Championships experience include senior diver Kenny Jenkins and senior Joon Youm,

Troy is now without the services of the graduated Ous Mellouli, a former NCAA title winner and one of the NCAA's top distance swimmers each year he was in school.

All will be competing under the guidance of first-year head coach Dave Salo, who took over in the spring for longtime Trojan coach Mark Schubert after Schubert accepted a post with USA Swimming.
