Keller Highlights USC Efforts At Texas Invitational

Senior Kalyn Keller took second in the 500y free in an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:43.58 to pace the No. 9 USC women's swimming team on the first day of the 2006 Texas Invitational on Thursday (Nov. 30) at the Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas in Austin.
In addition to USC and No. 11 host Texas, other teams competing in the tough meet include No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 Florida, No. 14 UCLA, No. 18 Wisconsin, No. 24 Arizona State, UNLV, Wyoming, TCU, UC Santa Barbara, Hawaii and Washington State.
Keller's time was under her season best 4:44.89 set earlier this month against Arizona. Brittany Allen also reached the final of the event, taking sixth in a season best 4:50.50 (NCAA consideration).
Katy Houston posted a season best and NCAA consideration time in winning the consolation final of the 200y IM (2:01.12) while sophomore Kristen Lahey was 10th in the 100y fly in a season best 54.03 (NCAA consideration). Soni also posted an NCAA consideration mark in the 200y IM (2:02.62).
The meet concludes Friday and Saturday. Prelims begin at 10 a.m both days with finals 6 p.m. (CST).
