Kenny Alfred Earns All-Freshman Honors

Dec. 4, 2006

Washington State University center Kenny Alfred has been named to the Sporting News 2006 Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman Team and the Scout.com Freshman All-American second team, it was announced today.

Alfred, a redshirt freshman from Gig Harbor, Wash., started eight games this season, all at center though he also spent time at guard during the first three games. His first start came in WSU's conference home opener against USC as the Cougar offensive line did not allow a sack against the Trojan defense. The WSU offensive line helped the Cougars average 388.1 yards of total offense per game, third in the Pac-10.

Last month Alfred was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention team on the strength of his 3.23 grade point average in English.
