Angie Pressey Named AVCA All-Pacific Region

LEXINGTON, KY - University of California junior outside hitter Angie Pressey was named to the Pacific All-Region Team, it was announced Wednesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Earlier, Pressey was selected first-team All-Pac-10 for the third season in a row - the first Cal player in school history to be first-team All-Pac-10 three straight years. Also an outstanding student, she was named CoSIDA District 8 third-team all-academic.
Pressey leads the Golden Bears, who will battle No. 2-ranked Stanford in the NCAA round of 16 Friday night at 5 p.m. CST in Austin, Texas, with 475 kills and 4.40 kills per game. She was named tournament MVP of the Cal Molten Classic and the Golden Bear Invitational this season, and was the Aug. 28 Pac-10 Player of the Week. Pressey has recorded 1,250 career kills, third-most among current Pac-10 players, and the 11th player in Cal history to record over 1,000 kills. In the 2006 Pac-10 stat rankings, she is third in kills (475, 4.40pg) and fifth in points (538.0, 4.98pg) per game.
