No. 16 California Bests Fresno State, 77-62

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) -Ashley Walker had 17 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven blocks as No. 16 California rolled past Fresno State 77-62 on Thursday night.
Walker, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, was 8-for-12 from the field for the Bears (7-1), and Devanei Hampton, a 6-3 sophomore, added 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Cal outscored Fresno State 46-14 in the paint as Keanna Levy, a senior guard, scored eight of her career-high 14 points close to the hoop, and added seven rebounds.
Chantella Perera had 19 points for the Bulldogs (4-3), and Tierre Wilson had 18.
Fresno State was looking to beat a ranked team for the third time this season after earlier victories over BYU and Texas Tech, and led 10-7 early in the game. But the Bears never trailed after Levy hit a 3-pointer with 14:30 left in the first half to give them a 12-10 lead.
California was leading 25-17 when Bulldogs coach Adrian Wiggins was hit with a technical, triggering a 6-0 run that extended the margin to 14. Fresno State countered with a seven-point burst to get within seven, but Cal was back up by 13 at halftime.
Fresno State made a late second-half run to get within eight with 3:48 left, but Levy scored to put the lead back at 10. The Bulldogs got no closer after that.
Cal played aggressive defense throughout, holding Fresno State to 28 percent shooting in the first half and 33 percent overall.
